Your privacy

The short version

Your account

When you create an account we keep your name, your email, and when you last signed in. Nothing else.

If you sign up with email, your password is stored only as a scrambled one-way code (bcrypt). Nobody, including us, can read it back.

Signing in with Google

If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google tells us your name, your email and a Google account number, so we know it’s you next time. We don’t take your profile photo or anything else from your Google account.

Google’s own rules apply to their part: Google Privacy Policy ↗

What you save

Universities, scholarships, programs, housing and My Plan progress you save are kept in your account on our server, so your plan is the same on every device.

If you saved things on this site before accounts existed, they move into your account the first time you sign in, and are then removed from your browser.

Cookies

We use only two cookies, and both are needed for the site to work:

No advertising or tracking cookies.

How we protect it

Other services the site loads

Links to universities and scholarship websites open their own sites with their own privacy rules.

Deleting your data

Want your account and everything you saved removed? Write to study.scholarmap@gmail.com from the email you signed up with, and we’ll delete it.
